Welding Doors Shut

Default Welding Doors Shut

I want to make my camaro a purely race car so i want to weld my doors shut. How would i go about doing this?

It depends how nice you want the finished product to look. Basically strip the doors of everything, and stitch weld them to the body. Do some body work to hide the seams, and paint it. If you want it to look really good, let a body shop do it.

what kind of welder would i want to use i have a 110 mig would that work? or i know someone that would do it with a really nice tig

You are welding sheet metal so either machine will be OK. The main thing is that the person doing the welding knows how to weld sheet metal properly, without burning holes or warping.

If you plan on going to an NHRA track ever you will not pass tech. Check the rule book before you make any big modifcations like that. If you race circle track then thats a different story. You will also make working on the car alot more difficult.

i know but i plan to do the cage first than hopefully have the some of the int. done before its not going to have much inside just 2 seats the gauges the stuff on the dash maybe a radio and a cb (of course)
