Welding Doors Shut
It depends how nice you want the finished product to look. Basically strip the doors of everything, and stitch weld them to the body. Do some body work to hide the seams, and paint it. If you want it to look really good, let a body shop do it.
You are welding sheet metal so either machine will be OK. The main thing is that the person doing the welding knows how to weld sheet metal properly, without burning holes or warping.
If you plan on going to an NHRA track ever you will not pass tech. Check the rule book before you make any big modifcations like that. If you race circle track then thats a different story. You will also make working on the car alot more difficult.
