Underhood mess
I hit a bunny with my IROC and splintered the paint where it hit on the front ground affect. After prep I used universal black spray lacquer followed by clear coat. You could do the same with your color. Cleans it up nice. You said you have a rod knocking?
Yea I got a couple bugs too iron out, knock wasnt there when I traded for it. They may have done some thing too quiet it but oh well it's done and over and I gotta make the best of it. I wanted a toy too tinker with but really didnt want too have too pull an engine right off.
Traded a 96 acura integra for it with a ton of miles and non vtech. Car was worth around $2000 my guess.
Sounds like a rod. Since tach don't work I'm guessing round 2000rpm gets loud and very lil oil pressure. Stays low in the red like non at all and barely climbs when giving gas.

I bought a bad engine a while back....I feel your pain, but dont risk that thing blowing up and possibly ruining a good block....pull the engine asap.
Stop driving that car....you ever see a connecting rod blow apart at 2K rpm? Ever seen a rod sticking out of a engine block? Bad mojo my friend....

When I heard the knock I decided then too keep it parked till I get another. Hoping I haven't got any rods or caps needing replaced already but this one I'll either build too put back in the camaro or and old 78 chevy truck dads got.
Well after crawling around under the hood and pulling valve covers I found out earlier that I do indeed have a Nice orange, chrome, carbed, and knocking 5.0 or 305ho!!!! Not this upsets me a little. Time too go get my mind off the car a while.
I feel you pain. I tell this story often here....my first 305-350 transplant was with a friends engine. It was rebuilt, .060 over, lumpy cam and was pulled from the truck it was in after 20K miles.
I installed it (this was my first engine swap) and assumed my oil gauge was wrong. Big mistake. Less than 100 miles into it, I heard that unmistakable PANGPANGPANGPANG of a rod knock.
Adding insult to injury, once removed, I discovered that the engine was standard bore, stock cam....

Too tired and little aggervated or I would get under it and check.
Either going too buy a 350 built or build one.
Thinking a nice 30 over flat top 350 with either a Lunati Voodo Cam or Comp Extream Energy cam and find some good heads.
I don't care about a lopy idle but performance and Durability is main goal.
Good luck. Be sure to ask around. You'd be surprised how many guys have partially assembled/rebuilt 350's in the back of their garage's. I got mine from a guy who had built the short block as a 'backup' for his circle track car.
Keep plugging away man. Eventually it pays off.

Found one! It's a 3780010? 350sbc. Has around 18,000 miles but has been sitting covered for a few years. Kept oil in the cylinders, turned it over by hand today and isn't stuck. Bottom end is tight, Might take a look at the rod bearings and make sure it isn't wore out.
Thinking of freshening it up with all new gaskets and seals ect. and drop it in and go. I need some heads though. Old truck heads. Has flat tops, holley 750dp ellectric choke, edlbrock intake and polished aluminum valve covers. All accessories and brackets, wanted too go to old style belt setup anyways. Engine is clean and looks fresh on the bottom end, wasn't 4bolt main like I had hoped.
Got it for $400 and only paid half, if it isn't what he said or its junk said he would pay it back, he is also my uncle and never a need not too trust him.
