so i drive a 1989 camaro 305 V8, and i love the damn thing. however, recently, on a website... i realized it only has 175 horsepower, which seems extremely low for that car... i mean the car has a lot of get up and go and it burns out liek a charm. can anyone... like explain this to me?

Well, it doesn't take much power to a burn out....you can do a brake stand on a moped....anyways..its all what you're used to. It may seem like it has get up and go now, but go ride in a 400 hp car and you will think ur car is slow...it's all what your used to. If ur happy with it, that's all that matters! I will tell you, once you feel more power, you will want it...then you get used to that, and you will want more...it's a never ending cycle....lol

Raven is right. I though my Camaro was fast untill I want for a ride in my buddies Vette. Then I had to trade my 305 in for a 383

Hit the nail on the head!!!!

My 305 might seem like it has some power but I take a ride in my friends (dare I say it []) mus.... w/ 350+HP I feel like it can't get out of it's own way. I want more power and hope to install it the day before yesterday.

Hi, and yes you will never get enough power. I currently run a 355 that hasgood power and yet after several years with it, I am now in the process of getting my parts together for the 400 engine I am going to put in the car this summer. My 355 has give or take about 325- 350 horse at the flywheel and some decent torque and yes it will set you back in the seat but not enough for me. So, the 400 I am building should get somewhere around 450 horse and about 400-450 in torque and that will wake the ol'e car up. Speed and power is one of those never ending things that just keeps you sucked in to it. Have fun and enjoy..
