Default Is the TPI air cleaner assembly too restrictive?

86 Iroc, 355cid, 4" highrise intake, Hedman Hedders, Edelbrock 1405 600cfm carburetor.
Because of heat build up from the hedders, I want to bring in fresh cool air.
I've installed a TPI air filter assembly and piped in the fresh cool air into the carb.

A lot of people say the 3" outlet on this assembly is too restrictive but what about all those mods available for Chevy's TPI engines out there. Everything out there is for the runners and plenum using that 3" air inlet, nothing available for improving the air cleaner assembly, at least I've never seen anything available.
What do y'all think
Rob
