Tires
I have stock radials that are P215/70R-14's and im looking at a drag radial with P215/60R14's would these fit on my rims? i have just the stock rims. I plan on racing auto cross and thats why im thinking of drag radials
again, at the risk of sounding like an idiot,,, ive always wondered what those numbers mean, like, p215/70r-14's,,, what in the world is that? I can kinda figure some of it out, but most is like an alien language to me.
The 215 is the width measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall. the 70 Is a ratio of the sidewall height and width. 215 x 0.70 = 150.5 millimeters. thats the height of one sidewall. The 14 inch rim converts to 355.6 millimeters. 355.6 + 150.5 + 150.5 = 656.6 millimeters or 25.85 inches is the overall tire height.
I have been in the automotive service industry for 13 yrs. now and have argued with alot of people, including some on this forum, over what these numbers mean. I finaly find someone who actually has it right, Thank you so much Sick, you have made my day. I feel vindicated [sm=happy046.gif]
