There should be a notch cut into the harmonic balancer as your mark to follow. Where are the marks that the p.o. put on, in relation to the notch?

There may be a big groove in the balancer that you do not use. That is for a probing device that goes into a tube on the timing tab. The balance should haveone small groove in it that you use.Its about the size a hack saw blade would make. Also does it have the original distributer? It is computer controled. Normaly there would be a brown wire that needs to be unplugged so the computer does not adjust the timing as you are doing it. But with all the elctronics gone from the TPI set up you should also have a distributer that operates independant of the computer.
