Remove the lower dash cover and the plastic dash cluster trim piece. Then remove the mounting screws that holds the cluster to the dash. The cluster plugs directly into the dash when it gets set in place, no harness. Pull the cluster forward to unplug it. Then start tilting, rotating, turning, and twisting it to work it out past the right side of the steering column. It's tricky to get the right combination, but it will come out. Play with the tilt steering too to find the right position to gain clearance.

It means there's something wrong with your Inflatable Restraint system (Air Bag and related sensors).

I had the same problem with the tach on my 92 Camaro. Tried the resistor fix but it didnt work. Finally found a tach board at the junkyard that worked for about a year.
I found a new replacement tach board. Only had it for about a week but it seemed to fix the problem! Hurray!!

Default Still working!

American sourced parts? No companies in the USA manufacture electronic components such as are on these tach boards. In fact the ic chip is manufactured in asia as well.
You get what you pay for.

Cajun Tach Shop was the original designer and producer of the new tachometer circuit boards for 82-92- Camaros. They are a veteran owned business that doesn't outsource parts and manufacturing. They offer a lifetime warranty and are much more reasonably priced! I called them on a Saturday and Greg walked me step by step through the installation process. I mean, what other company would do that! Very nice people and very professional.

That's great, I wish that fix was out back when I had my 91. My tach was reading double, so I was constantly doing math, lol
