Default Starting problems

I have a 92 z28 convertible 5.0, I brought it new. The problem is, every couple of starts I put the key in and turn it and the only thing that happens is the instrument lights and gages activate but it wont start, I thought it was the starter so I replaced it (checking the new starter before buying it at Auto Zone) This problem just started happening while checking it with my buddies engine anailizer while looking for the cause of the check engine light, that turned out to be the EGI valve, the car has 90,000 miles. Any Ideas? Thank's.

Default RE: Starting problems

VATS key system. if you key has a little black chip in it, 9 times out of 10, you need to replace the ignition cylinder and key. there are 2 small orange wires that connect to it and they break off. my advice is to figure out how to bypass this system, since the cylinder is a bout 60 and the key (1 key, 1 regular key!!) is 45 from a dealer only
