Default Starting Problems

i have a '92 rs and sometimes when i go to start it, it won't even try to turn over. its my first camaro and my first chevy so i know absolutely nothing about it and i was hopin i could get some help from someone with a little more experience. so i was just wondering what the problem could be and how much it would cost to fix it.

The cost to fix depends on what's bad. The key word here is "bad" It could be: bad starter, bad battery, bad/corroded wiring at the starter, bad/corroded wiring at the battery, bad ground between engine and frame, bad alternator causing low battery, bad ignition switch, bad VATS (security) key, bad VATS circuit in ignition switch. Hope I didn't miss anything, but it should give you a good start! (no pun intended)

i had this problem. check the wires on your starter. if they are all good and tight, check your 2 grounds from your battery. oneson the altenater bracket and the other is on your fender, (at least they should be)take them off and clean them up, like grind down the rust or whatevers there to bare metal. then check your battery. if all else fails, it could possibly be a bad solenoid on your starter. you can get a new starter at VIP for 80 bucks with a 40 dollar core deposit.

Ok i bought a new battery, starter, and cables and it still wont start sometimes. If it helps any, on the times it wont start, the security light stays on.
