I personally like that. Modify the rocker itself

I dont know how many pounds tires and wheels cost you but for 50 pounds (i dont have the sign on my keyboard) I would go for it.

RE: Side exhausts
man, that silver side exhaust is super sexy.
just my input from someone who drives a 305 tpi with no muffler. the rear exhaust with no muffler isnt all that bad considering how much metal, glass, and insulation there is between me and the stock rear exit. however, side exhaust, even with a glass pack, would probably be annoyingly loud, and the fumes can be easily sucked back in. i had that issue with a geo tracker with side exhaust.
however, i did think of something that would be easy for you to make a dual out of. if you got a glass pack with a larger inlet, and flipped it around, you could use the larger exit for ease of work

my first camaro was a 89 RS, the mounting bracket for the muffler was rusted badly and broke one day, shortly afterwards the muffler was donated to the highway clean up crew.. i must say the sound that came out of that car with no muffler was pure feckin evil, and i loved it. i could make children cry at stop lights and almost gave an old lady a heart attack on the highway when i flew by her pushing 90.. oh how i miss that car.

RE: Side exhausts
I just had a custom exhaust done for an '84 and the side exits are not a bad idea. I had the guy do dumps that just end before my rear end. Looks pretty sweet and stealth. With the tips turned downward it resonates off of the ground and it sounds mean. He used 2 1/2" piping with shorty headers and Flowmaster 10 series mufflers.
