Default Seedo and Tach Problems

Hello everyone,

My brother went and got himself a Camaro and now I gotta to fix it. It's a 91 RS with V6 engine.

The Tachometer didn't work from day 1. It freaks out when you start the car and then stays pegged after that. Not a big deal but if it might be an easy fix, I'll try to fix it.

The bigger issue is the Speedometer. It worked when he first got it and then started flaking out one day after he hit a large bump in the road. Sometimes it works for a little and the starts to jump between zero and the speed he's driving and then eventually just goes to zero and stays there.

Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance!

There's a speed sensor in the tail shaft of the trans, make sure the wiring is tight. As for the tach I really don't know what runs that gauge.

I think I found it. I took a pic but I can't figure out how to upload it. It's just a few inches before the drive shaft meets the trans. The wiring is tight as far as I can tell. I disconnected it and checked the connections. Still no improvement. Actually since I posted this, the speedo went from reading zero to staying pegged all the time. Not sure what's going on.

You wouldn't happen to have a part number for a new sensor, would you?

Thanks for the advice!

Never mind the part number I found it on AutoZone's website but it costs $110 and I was looking at the right sensor.

Anyone know how to test the sensor with a multimeter or something?

Thanks.
