Hey i was woundering if anyones had the problem of there rpm gage on the dash not reading right like when im idle it says 2500 and when driving im red lining...and it just reads horrible.just wanted to know if the problem is in the dash board or in the trany line or something like that because a machanic said its had to do with a trany line or cable but i dont believe him im thinkg the dash.....

 

as far as i know, the tach on our cars dosent read from the tranny anyway, reads from the distributor..

i could be wrong as i have been many times before.

it could be that your tach is somehow messed up though, however thats unlikely

 

can you hear the motor red lineing?

Maybe some one replaced the tach with one from a V6 or V8 car. Maybe a V8. That is why your tach is reading twice as much as it should.

 

i had a similar problem on my car. it would jump around and not work half the time. so i put in a tach from a junk car, and now it works fine. goto your local junk yard and try to find one. 10 20 bucks should do it. just slide out the old one and pop in the other.

 

your lucky, mine reads at 4500 for idle, and slams into the bottom of the guage with any throttle at all

but if I remember right funky has a four cylinder and since they were only made till 86 he might have trouble finding a tack for his.

No i actually it has a 6 cyl i would be an absolute idiot to buy a 4 and drive it around!!!!!!!1
