i assume your asking about your heads, if so, then there shouldnt be anything loose on them, if there is, you have big problems, lol.

Why would you take the heads off to paint them?...degrease tho enkine and paint it together...use painters tape to mask off where you dont want to overspray. also use cardboard to sheild some areas with your hand.

Mmmmm Thag say him understand Neanderthal sentence.

Dude, seriously, unless English is your second language, you really need to explain yourself better......are you actually puling the heads or just the valve covers? Pulling the heads just to paint them is silly. Now, your valve covers, thats another story. If you pull the valve covers you still have to be carefull not to drop any large amounts of crud in the oil ports, but for the most part you are safe. Go heavy on the RTV when you put them back on, valve cover oil leaks are a pain in the *** and easily avoided with a heavy dose of silicone. I used to be that guy, the purist, who NEVER used RTV on a gasket..I figured it was like putting a gasket on a gasket........as soon as I got sloppy with my gasket maker, most of my oil leaks went away....

If you do take the valve covers off, when you put them back on, dont torque the bolts down real tight. This will cause the bolt holes to warp/depress into the gasket and create leaks.
