Default removing my engine

im in the process of swaping to a 350 and i have everything undone except the motor mounts. the bolts on the bellhousing were the biggest pain because of the 3 inch thick wiring harness bolted to them. when i had my dash apart, i took out my computer and it started and ran fine. what is the purpose of this computer for my car. i have a few wires hooked up to my Q-jet and distributor but thats it. can i eliminate all those wires with no problems? ill post up some pics of the project as soon as i get my camera out there.

i took all the computer crap off my car but i didnt cut any wires i unplugged the computer then unhooked all the wires from the engine and tied them all up inside the fender so you cant see them but you will have to get a different carb and distributor for no computer

You may want to retain your water temp, oil pressure, and starter solenoid wires from the main harness. Keeping them may save you time because they are already connected to the dash. Keep your a/c stuff too.

It should mostly just be a collection of all sorts of wiring. But they might mostly be to the transmission it sounds like.

if you want to get rid of the computer just look for the bunch of wires the come from the passanger side under the blower motor and unplug everthing that it goes to the gages and everything else that you really need come from a different harness the only plug you will need to leave plugged in is the one on the tranny its for the back-up lights
