Default Rear Hatch / Latch...HELP

I ahve a 1989 IROC with the power rear hatch release. Normally,..when you close the hatch, you can hear the power motor run and it "sucks" the hatch closed.

Tonight, the power part stopped working. The hatch will latch on the first notch,...but it doesn't pull down to a tight close like normal.

My question is; Is this a common problem? Is it a fuse? If so, which fuse and where is it located?

Any help would be greately appreciated.

it is common for them to burn out. you can check the fuses, check all of them as i dont what circuit the motor is on. have you tried pushing on it harder, maybe its stuck?

may encounter problems when opening and closing your rear hatch due to a damaged latch. To remedy the problem, replace the damaged part with an rear hatch latch.

First go to (top down solutions web site)and down load there repair instructions. Just 4 major parts to the system 1) motor 2) switch 3) plastic gear 4) nyon slides.
You have to look at it first and not guess and it is not rocket science .Power supply is not my first concern unless you messed with it. The switch is another part of least concern.
