questions about 4:10 gears
Hi guys I'm new here I'm getting my car all painted and back together and I was wondering how significant putting a 4:10 in 91' camaro Rs 305 TBI. How big of a gain am I getting would it be significantly quicker? Thanks for all the input you guys are willing to offer.
You'll lose about 3MPG but yes it will be a noticable difference in accelleration. I would recomend a Richmond Ring and pion from jegs (but the kit it makes it easier) and an Auburn LSD. I have another post on how to save some money when ordering. Also if you're going to put some serious power mods in, get a rear end support diff cover.
You are wasting your money on those gears with automatic & TBI and no Mods. Being quicker will be in your mind with a stock 170 HP 305 TBI.[sm=gears.gif] est ET 16/17 seconds @84 mph
4.10 with a bigger motor = kick ***
it will be a little quicker, but I think he's right, cuz your enigne will be revving higher so you'd definately need a transflush straight up. But it isn't the worst idea for your first mod. If you think about it, you won't be wearing out your rear end prematurely as you upgrade your motor. But there is only so much you can do with a 305.

yes eventually I'm planing on putting a 383 in it so I'm kinda building up around it.I'm also doing headers and exhaust sence it will also bolt up to the 383 I'm gettin in the future So with a posi and the 4:10 it will definitly pick it up rightin the 305 ?
