Pull Down Latch

Pull Down Latch
Hello again I have one more small issue that I had a question for. The hatch locks on the first part of the latch but doesn't come all the way down. I later realized there's this pull down latch it has, and wanted to know would it be better to replace the whole thing or just do a motor?

if you are going to work on the pull down hatch I would replace the following parts (I did a few years back). Below listed are required for a working pulldown.
1) Hatch motor
2) Plastic dr gear
3) Nylon slides (4)
These parts are available at TopDownSolutions and they also have a very good download of instuctions for repairing and installing replacement parts.

In addition to Blacks thought: Check your relay....and even the fuse. I had a bad relay that caused too much amp draw blowing the fuse. There are two relay's one right by the motor, and depending on the year one under your console. Of course the one that was bad for me was under the console. I don't think its a bad idea to replace it all at once. By the way, note where your motor mount bolts are at now...it will help you align the new motor later. If the motor is off in alignment it may not close all the way, or if its too low, you can strip out the plastic gear or even crack the housing.
