Please Help ASAP
My 91 RS Camaro has been starting and running perfect. With the exception of having to wiggle the ignition key a lot to get it to turn, However , just a few minutes ago I went home for lunch and turned it off and came back out about 5 minutes later and when I turn the key the moter will not even turn over. All the electrical stuff works when the key is on but when you try to start it does not make any sound. I do see a security light on the dash panel when I try to start it. Could the security system keep it from starting. I could not even get the transmition to move (automatic). If this is the case how do you dis-ingage the security sytem. If this is not what is going on I am open to ideas.
thanks very much for your imput,

I don't think it is your security system. Everything else runs .
If the starter makes no sound at all it sprobably your starter solenoid. First thing to do is clean the battery terminals. It that does not make work, get under the car and pound on the starter with a hammer a bit - sometimes this loosens the solenoid or starter so that now it will start once or twice more before it dies completely: you can drive it somewhere to fix it.

I went back home in about a hour. I got in the car and hit the door looks a couple of times and it started right up. I only have one key. I hate paying $45 for another key and the cylinder be bad because I would have to buy a completely new key all over again. I keep going back to having trouble turning the key when it is in the ingnition. It is like it is worn bad and not wanting to turn to the start position. So I don't know if it is my key or ignigtion cylinder that is worn.
Any ideas would be appreciated because I would like to keep my cost down. Would it be worth having a diagnostic test run on it?

just take the key to GM and have them tell you the resistance, then wire in a 2 cent resistor with the same resistance from radio shack, and you should be fine.
If you're inserting the key and having to jiggle it around in order to get the car to start, it's probably your ignition tumbler.
If you're twisting the key and there isn't a "click," it's probably your starter.

i had the same exact problem with my 89 RS v8....i had the whole VATS system, lock cylinder and key replaced (very costly), and it turned out all i needed was a little resistor wired in there. when it activates, you wont hear any sounds at all, the interior things will work but the starter wouldnt click or anything.
