ill post some pics of it later (just finished working on the engine and now im gonna relax) but what would i have to do if i got glass ones? is there a difference in years, like if i got one from the eightys would it even work with the 92?

There are two different latch pin diameter sizes. My 91 had the fat pin (3/4"), but I don't know how far back the smaller pins were used. Both tops will fit the car the same, but if you pick up a set with the small diameter pins, you'll have to change the receivers on the body. On the other hand, the fat pin tops will work for both, as the outer part of the pin is spring loaded and will retract to show the smaller pin inside. Check yours.

Inside the fat pin is the small pin. When you put the fat pin top on a car with thin pin receivers and then latch it, the fat part stays inside the top and only the thin pin comes out to lock it, just like a thin pin only top would. It's a one size fits all mechanism.

My cousin has a 92 with plastic tops. My uncle painted them black for her and they look like straight trash. Don't even bother with that crap. And after hearing that story I'm never taking mine out again...
