The grey and rough is odd, but still save up for the glass ones, and check out our classifieds section, as we have several 4th gens being parted out.

When I had a 91, my one top was spiderwebbed like stained glass, and the outsides on both was peeling the outer layer like a sunburn. Wet sanding and polishing helped a little, but they still looked bad. I scored a nice pair of glass tops at a swap meet for $50, and they looked like new by comparison. I still have the old ones. Check for glass tops on craigslist or flebay.

The guy I got mine from also had another set. I regret not picking those up too, could have made some money on them. Also know that when you put on glass tops, you're going to have to remove your front and rear trim pieces to access the latch receivers. They need to be lowered to draw the tops down more, as the glass is thinner than the plastic with the steel frame. Just plop the glass tops on as it is, and you're going to have about an 1/8" gap between the glass and seal.

Try searching craigslist and such. I had a mint set I couldnt get rid of. Wound up giving them away to a ebay buddy of mine.

I love my glass tops. They do have drawbacks though. Theyre hard to handle when you take them out. And if they sit in the sun for a while then you better break out the oven mits to take them out. I have a minor burn on my thumb from taking mine out yesterday. But still better than plastic ones in my opinion.
