Default Picked up an 89 trans am!

Hey all I picked up a trans am tpi and it was cranking and running. I had it running for about 20 minutes and shut it off. About half hour later when I went to start it to park it, it would not crank at all. I get power to everything and see the brake, check engine and for a second without blinking the security light which it did when it started.

So far I have:
disconnected and reconnected battery
cleaned key(3.72) when tested with meter
tried starting in Neutral- played with different gears to see if it was range sensor
Checked fuse on the power wire that mounts near battery

Im stuck as it doesnt seem like vats since the light isnt blinking, but the behavior is similar to vats/key not being read issue
I dont hear a click from the starter even nor the fuel pump prime for that initial few seconds
Please advise as to next step! Thank you!

Never mind, found it, main ground wire to block somehow came apart. Car started and ran. On a different note-

When I shut off the car now and tried restarting it, a wire/s on the firewall started to become hot and glow. Once stopped cranking it got back its normal color. Anyone have some insight to this?

Also, I thought the battery was dead from cranking so I put it back into the ls1 camaro and it started but then shut off immediately. I started it again and held the throttle for a little bit and after a few seconds the starter started spinning again and a small explosion from the bottom passenger side happened and the only way to shut off the car was to disconnect the battery. There was no prior issues with the ls1 camaro prior. Im stumped!
