Default Picked up a "new" '94 Z28

Hey, all. Just signed up on this site. Pretty cool place. (Yep, I went over to the New Members area first.)

I just picked up a new (to me) 1994 Z28. It's an A4 car and has had a couple of mods done to it by the PO. Just a Moroso air box, aftermarket chip (supposedly a Hypertech. I don't know for sure), a Borla stainless cat-back system and the tranny rebuilt to "cop" specs. It runs really, really smooth and powerful.

The bad part: the front and rear bumper covers need paint (the front really bad); it needs new tires (already on order); and the passenger side window is slooooow to go up (sometimes it just stops).

What should I be checking/working on first (besides the above)? Any pointers for the new 4th gen owner?

Thanks,
Jeff

ORIGINAL: Cam Can

and the passenger side window is slooooow to go up (sometimes it just stops).

Funny I have the same problem. Its not that big of a bother for me to spend any money on right now, but I believe it simply needs a new window motor. There is a sticky somewhere here on replacing that.

The windows on our cars are so big they go up pretty slowly, and they kill the motors, it's a common issue.

Just a slight correction to your mods, "Hypertech" isn't an actual chip(94+ 4th gens don't have a physically replacable "chip"), it means the owner has reprogrammed the PCM. In all reality the Hypertech Power Programmer doesn't give you much HP, but it's good if you need to reset the speedo or something like that. It sounds like you have a pretty nice new car, enjoy it!

both mine went up slow, and down even slower. but they never died! and they were the orignal motors, and the kid who owns it now hasnt had to replace yet either. as for the bumper, yea. it sux. mine was like that. so are all i see. not really stoppable, except those new invisabars

Congratulations and enjoy your car. Of course, you need to put up some pictures. I just got mine today, and I'll put up some in another thread so as to not hijack yours.

Power windows. Mine are slow also, and not pulling all the way up on the driver's side. I'm wondering if it is the grease/lube or rollers in the mechanism as they should work regardless of the weight of the window. They did new, so the possible reasons should be sticky mechanism or worn-out motor.

Here is the link to fix the motors.
