one more shot at this exhaust leak
ok for those of you who know about my previous problem, i think i have found the source of the clicking. Im about 99% sure its commin from the flange where the header inserts into the y-pipe. Its a rouned type that just kinda, "slips" on and tighten the bolts and that should be it. But oh no. Im not that lucky. It leaks, but now its down to sometimes. The bolts are pretty much as tight as humanly possible, and the two flanges are pretty perpendicular, not perfect im sure, but its hard to tell when laying underneath the car without a tape measure. I was wondering if there was some sort of gasket, or maybe a silicone i could put around that "connection" to help seal it up. Somebody mentioned soaking the gaskets in water for a few hours, i did that, and it didnt seem to make any difference. So i guess that was nice and sealed. Which is why im guessing its that flange. IDEAS?!?!

Some high temprtiure RTV Sealant might work well. I'm pretty sure the red RTV was the higher temp rating, but blue I know stands up to pretty high tempritures. You might do well to investigate just how hot the exhaust system gets before trying it. If it is within the parameters, you can buy a tube of it at most auto parts stores for a few dollars.

yea ive got some of that RTV stuff. Red and Blue, and i would imagine that it would get just about as hot as fire... since its so close, maybe a little less from wind and what not... ill give that RTV a shot
