With the new 350 installed, and running a cheap sunpro oil pressure guage, my pressure seeme to drop to zero while stopped and in gear. I dont hear any lifter knock, and while Im driving the pressure stays nice and strong. Im running 10w30, should I run a heavier oil?(the engine is a 1977) Again, this only happens when Im stopped and in gear (light, stop sign) other than that pressure seems ok. Motor has about 20k on rebuild so I dont wanna think its the oil pump. (read I dont wanna change the oil pump!)

 

Get a better oil pres gauge, and use the copper line and not the plastic tube crap.

 

Using the copper line. I spoke to a well trusted buddy of mine tonight and he told me not to worry about it. As long as Im producing good pressure at cruising speeds, Ill be ok. He warned me to pay special attention to telltale warning signs ( noises, etc...)
