No pvc but 2 breathers
Camaro Z28 1984 - trans. man. - Rochester - Camed. My car always had a tendency to give small jerks at low revs.
I changed the pcv twice, it didn't change anything, I plugged the PVC inlet line to the carburetor and I put a free pipe (without PVC) at the outlet of the valve cover.
Since then my engine runs much better and acceleration is better. I thought of putting a second breather (no PVC).
One on the left and one on the right of the engine.
Question: Does it have a risk for my engine?

The reason for a PVC valve is because exhaust from the engine makes it around the rings and into the crank case. This has two negative effects. The PVC value draws the air born gases into the intake an.
1.) Exhaust is dirty and full of carbon. It is really bad for the oil. If you can get the exhaust out of the motor before the carbon settles into the oil the less it contaminates the oil.
2.) Crankcase exhaust has not gone through the Cat, the PCV value is considered a emission item because it push the gases back into the engine and then through the cat for cleaning.
Because the gases are basically inert they do not cause an engine to run rich or lean. UNLESS the car is already running rich or lean. If an engine is running rich and the exhaust has not gone through a Cat there can be gas fumes in it. This is why a really rich car’s oil will smells like gas. Same with lean its just oxygen instead.
If a car runs better with the PVC valve unplugged and you are sure the PVC valve is not stuck open it normally because of another issue Rich or lean or incomplete burning in a cylinder.
If you just run vent you should change the oil every 1000 miles. This is how a lot of race cars do it but most of them will change oil between every race.
Even before PVC vales cars had down draft systems. That would draw air through engine but did not reburn it.
Also note if an engine has heavy wear on it and a lot of blow by twin breathers may be your only option. You will start pushing oil into the motor with a PVC valve hooked up..
