I recently scooped up a 90 camaro z28 for 500 smackers. nice car needs some paint and has a little engine problem Im hoping you can help. See the car doesnt stay running itll start up and then shut off, but the previos owner said if they pulled a sensor it would run for a few minutes, putter than die out. Im thinking o2 sensor, what do you think.

 

Probably needs a new O2 sensor just because of the age, but I doubt that it will fix your problem. If the service lite is lit, you can start from there. I suspect a fuel problem or even a clogged cat, but this is just a SWAG.

 

What can I do to test the cat? no lights come on at all.

 

Will it stay running if you give it gas, like half open throtle or so? I dont know how to test the can, sorry.
