A couple of years ago, I bought an original owner, all stock, all cherry 91 RS. The car was so nice, I couldn't bring myself to alter it. To get any type of true performance out of this car, the doggy 305 would have to go. There's nothing wrong with a stock setup. But if you're hoping to get race car performance, start saving up a lot of money because it will be a big chain reaction.

I don't know what you're talking about 69, the 305 is a torque monster! Especially the LG4! On a more serious note, 69 is right. The 305 is not my favorite motor and I'd much rather have a 350 sitting in the engine bay than the 305.

with the exception of headers and an open element air cleaner, my 305 TBI is staying stock on my 89 restoration. The engine is being rebuilt so it will be in decent shape. I agree with others if you want performance to consider a repower. I can grab my keys to my stang or Camaro if I want performance.

as everybody else said, nothing at all wrong with being stock,
they only reason the 305 gets a bad name is because alot of the younger kids(14-early 20's) my age to be specific, think that because they are in a "v8 camaro" its the baddest car on the street and can take on anything, then when they roll up next to a spec-v or something of that sort and get spanked everybody laughs
but thats not to say a 305 cant be build to hang with the big guys, just gonna take a hell of a lot of cash.
know what you have and enjoy it, stock or modded will only matter to you, 305's make nice cruisers(i love 3-4 hour cruises with my friends), and the RS will still look just as good as a 350 Iroc

I was going to keep mine stock- but after the 305 spun a bearing on me, it's almost as much money to fix it as to drop a 350 in it. Figured I might as well~
If mine had some rare options package or other than I might say something different, but she'll never a money car. Not that I ever intend to sell it, anyway.
