new guy to forum/new to chevy with some ?'s
howdy yall.
well im new here and new to chevies. im a mopar guy. and this will be my first time with a chevy car.
i went and looked at a camaro the other day for my GF. and i have a few ?'s about it.
first off the title is on it way here and the kid dosnt know what year it is. but he said its the first year were the rear glass goes up with the trunk lid? it has z28 ground effects but the early 80's (83 maybe) stlye nose. its a auto but not OD so im guess t-350? any ideas what year it could be?
and i have no clue what these cars go for.
its "big v8" if you ask the kids dad lol. so im guesing its a 305. it has headers and a 4bbl. he said he has some new "speed" parts still in the box's that go with it. its runs good and the tranny is good. but its been sittin for like 5 years with out being driven. but its not in bad shap little bit of rot over the rear tires and a dent in the front fender.
it needs ALL new lines. new tires and there is no exhaust after the cat. other than that its good.
he wants 200 bucks for it.
i think it would make a good project for me and the GF.
does it sound like a ok deal or should i pass.
thanks alot
Evan

i just bought an 82 camaro t topthat was SOlid, no structural rust in new york, as a roller no engien no trans, no seats or rear interior.
i payed 450 delivered with a extra posi rear, the car was linked already.
so for 200$, id say Why not, just make sure the rust isnt to bad underneath, you wouldnt want the rear end to push thru the unibody
edit/ you can almost junk it for 200 anyways, so why not give a go at it

Sounds like a decent deal to me. Consider this like a 76 Charger look for the rust. You can have a nice looking car and its not safe to drive. Make sure all the rust you see does not scare you. You will like the Chev when you go to the parts store and you find you can get everything you need and none of it is big bucks and its instock. If its original most likely the tranny is a 200 metric. Do a Google search the pan shapes are different.
What do you plan to do to it? restore? cruiser? The V6/automatic W/ODin the fourth gen Camaro's is a real nice setup for the ladies. 200HPbone stockand 28 MPG highway. You can hit 250Hp with only minor upgrades. The 3rd gen is a bit lighter then the 4th gen soat 250HP it would be a fun car to drive. In fact in 83 the 305-HO was only rated at 190HP LOL.
