don't get me wrong i understand your enthusiasm, but truely your going too radical for a 305. your going to defeat your purpose by installing heads with 230cc intake runners. thats way too much runner space for a 305. there will be no air/fuel velocity and it will cause you to be very sluggish coming out of the hole. now if you was trying to break a topend record i could understand. but the fact of the matter is people with stock motors will be burning your *** off the line. the kind of heads you want or something in the 58 to 60cc combustion chamber size with no more than 180cc intake runners, and 1.94 valves. you would be able to take advantage of the smaller bore a 305 has instead of choking it. Well i mean im only a 16 year old kid and I dont have a whole lot of money. Im not going to do an engine swap and through in a 350. Im not really looking for a whole lot of horsepower just something to boost the stock 170 hp, something along the lines of 300 hp. If you were in my position what mods would you throw on there to acheive approx. 300 hp.

if could go there and check out the edelbrock heads(theres 4 different sections for chevy SB) and pick me out some aluminum heads that fit those dimensions and just leave me a link to them that would be great.
thanks

my 305 is pushing close to 300 HP. the block is bored .060 over. it has 305HO flat top pistons to fit the oversized bore, i have a .468/480 lift .297/304 duration cam. i have 305HO heads milled 2 thousands and pocket ported with 1.94 intake valves. MSD ignition, edelbrock tunnel ram, holley 600 CFM, long tube headers and a high output coil. as you see it takes quite a bit to get a 305 to 300 HP. if i was you i would start with a cam then have your computer upgraded to work with it. if you choose the right cam and have the computer upgraded you probably could get close to 50 extra HP right off the bat. Also you do not make Horsepowe by slapping parts on a motor and then adding up all the MFG claims and come with number. That is called making HP by addition. [sm=chairshot.gif]So read Sick's Post again on how hard it is to get that 300 HP number.
