Ok ya thanks microkid. I try to do the regular maintenance stuff on any car if I can. I do believe that my car is due for an oil change so I'll get on that next weekend.

good deal. and before asking, dont bother with synthetic oil. it will only leak out faster. i use mobil clean 5000 10w-40 in my dd, and when i pulled the engine apart to replace head gaskets, there was no sludge (190,000, 95 blazer). i suggest using the same

Ok nice, that sounds good. And 10w-40 will work on my car? On both my parents cars (2000 Dodge Grand Caravan and 1994ish Chevy Lumina), I use 5w-30.

And to those who were asking for pics of the engine, here are some quick snaps I took tonight. Sorry for the quality of the picture, it was getting dark outside.

Yes, a 350 will nestle right in there nicely.

huh, it is carbed. interesting.

and as far as the type of oil it takes, it should say on the oil filler cap or in the owner's manual.

Haha ok good to know. I definitely will be familiarizing myself with my car until I'm very comfortable with it before I do any serious engine work or a swap though. Plus I need a job before I can afford many of the things I would like to do to my car.

I just realized that you're from Tucson. Cool, I'm in Mesa.

I don't have the original owner's manual. I, or rather my father, did buy one of those hayne's repair manuals (if you are familiar with those) so I'll look in there and on the fill cap. But yeah, when I popped the hood I was surprised that it was carbed, I was kinda hoping for TBI or TPI. I'm not super familiar with either, but I know they're better and they inject the fuel directly into the cylinder rather than mixing it with air first then injecting like a carb. Ha but that's about all I know about them.

Cool. I was born in Phoenix. I moved to Kansas City when I was six. And just a few months ago we moved to Tucson. I really need to get my windows tinted to protect the interior now that we're in AZ.

Definitely get window tint, but the heat will still get into the car and get to the interior. Its an unstoppable juggernaut.
