Default Need some advice!

hello i have a 1987 camaro that has a t5 tranny(i think it is, its a 5 speed) and a GM goodwrench 350 crate motor. i have heard that this tranny cant handle a 350. i want to start building the motor a little, it already has a high rise intake and a rebuilt 4 barrel. but i dont want to kill my tranny with too much power going to it. any advice helps! thanks!

It is not the power of the 350 that destroys T-5 manuals but the repeated clucth drops & excessive power burn outs that do it. If you avoid this type of actions, you should be allright with mild 350 & t-5 as a daily driver.

cool man thanks! but that is the last thing i have to worry about now. last night i lost all oil pressure. so i added three quarts and checked and it was fine. then i looked under the car to see if it was leaking and oh boy was it! it has a steady dribble coming from somewhere near the oil filter. im hoping the oil filter somehow got put on with 2 gaskets and it blew it out or the main seal blew out. either way those are easy fixes and are cheap. ever had that happen to you?

I had a oil leak after a Dealer oil change and it was due to a defective filter.

turns out the check oil light sensor blew out and it was leaking from it. simple fix that cost me 4 bucks!

I recently had a similar situation. I got the oil changed and then about a month later i was under the car and noticed oil coming from the oil filter so I just tightend it down and called it good. A few weeks later (I hadn't been driving the car) I noticed it was still leaking, so I put an oil filter wrench on it and then take it for a spin, when I get back its just pissing everywhere. I do an emergency oil change (thinking the seal on the oil filter was bad) and when I removed the filter there was a big hole in the oil filter itself. Apparently when i put the oil filter wrench on it it squeezed it tight enough to make the hole bigger.
