please help me, i need to know what wire goes where off the alternator. GM 3 wire alternator, the 2 wire connector 1 white wire 1 red wire, then the 1 black wire off the back of the alternator. 1 question, the 1 black wire off the back of the alternator, does that go to the starter, then the battery, of just straight to the battery. i am chasing a charging problem at idle and this is my last solution. just installed a 124 amp alternator and i still only get about 7 volts at idle. i am hoping its the wiring but need to know how a correctly wired camaro is as mine was a FI car switched to a CARB car by an idiot! please help!!

 

First. you need to crank your engine and put a voltmeter on the connection and see how many volts it is putting out. you can run that wire either way and it will charge as long as it's connected to the positive battery cable somewhere. if it was me i would run it directly to the battery . if you still have battery charging problems and your alternator is putting out the proper volts you may have a ground problem. the two small wire on the connector is for your gauge.
