Default gauge problems

i bought this z28 with the 305 already changedover to carborated. now they would have to bipass the computer to do so right?
well could that have indirectly caused my speedometer tach temp and oil gauge to all shut down.... the only thing that works are my gass charge and aftermarket temp andoil press gauge.i also have no dash light

That is what happens when you disconnect the computer. LOL Seriously, check the wiring to the instrument panel. Something may have been disconnected or came loose.

Carburated. Bypass. Spelling... Yes your computer took all the digital signals and converted it into analog.

Third gen Camaros are pre OBDII and the gauges work independantly from the computer. What year is your car? Pre 90 has a speedo cable and the gauges still get a signal from the senders them selves.

Sounds to me like someone without a clue hacked something up when they were removing the computer, and ended up ruining the wiring to the insrument cluster. You'll probably have to start pulling trim panels, but you HAVE to get a wiring diagram of the instrument system if you're gonna do this. Your best bet is to check right after the guages with a digital voltmeter, and see if you have voltage behind them, and work your way backward through the circuit. Keep in mind that voltage will drop to nearly zero after the final load on the circuit, so if you've got more than a few milivolts there, you'll need to look for a break in the ground circuit, otherwise you're probably looking at a sending unit connection, or a bit less likely, a main power feed issue to the sending units.

the speedometer worked for the first day i had it so did the lights to the consule...the tach moves backwards and stops at 70 on the rpms and then stays there. it does seem hack and slash. even for an 84. my headlights like to not turn back on when i click from high to low and back to high again

You have an 84 so the gauges and computer work independantly and you should have a cable driven speedo. The computer wireing is mostly self contained. It will plug into the motors switchs and sensors and then go through the firewall inside the fender well to the computer. The gauges and lights go through the firewall next to the brake booster.

Even if that were the case, there'd still be an issue if it blew a fuse. Something made that fuse overload.
