hey guys... i was wondering if anyone would be able to estimate what my setup would run in the 1/4. i have not run it yet, but i need to get an estimate. i was wondering if someone w/ a similar setup could tell me what they run or what they think i would run in comparison.
setup is as follows- 430 horse at the rear wheels through a turbo 350 auto ratchet w/ 4:10 rear gears
SBC 350 small blockengine is completely reworked usingnew rings etc, bored .30 over makingit a 355w/ stainless forged pistons and stainless forged valves, solid lifters, roller rockers, custom ported 2.02 heads flowing about 220 w/ a tall cam (ill get you the specs on it later today) holley dominator dual plane high rise intake, holley 600 carb and long tube headers.it is pushing 430 at the rear wheels, w/ a turbo 350 automatic w/ a reverse patternmanual b&m ratchet shifter. it has a stronger custom driveshaft going into a power trac posi rearend w/ 4:10 gears. the brakes were fully reworked w/ a line lock installed. it has new fully adjustable control arms and fully adjustablehotchkiss suspension all the way around. and last but not least 16" rims.
o ya it's a 1992 RS

A 355 with 430 h.p. at the wheels? Factoring in an average 10-15% parasitic power loss through the drivetrain, that would be giving you between 478-505 h.p. at the crank. And I don't see much in your build list that would get you that high. Has your engine actually been dyno'd, or are they estimates? Either your engine is extreeeeeemely radical (more than you list), or that number is a very generous estimate.

No way, I don't believe it for a second. Maybe if you listed the other mods you did to it (rear end, frame, etc.) You also claim you get that power out of a 600 cfm carb... Something with that much power would see hugely the negative effect of that small carb.
Pics though?![Big Grin](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Whoa dude, if you based your HP estimates on the assumption that you had a 383, you are WAY off. We arent trying to bash you, but 430 from a 350 is asking a whole lot.
Ive got a 350 (.040 over, makes it a 358) Carter 600 CFM carb, Mellings RV cam, stock heads, headers and true dual exhaust (and some lil ignition stuff) . I GUESS Ive got about 350HP at the crank. The only major difference between you and I are your heads. Heads usually add 20-40 HP, but I may be a bit off.....

ill update you w/ the specifics of everything when i get home. but i can assure you the numbers are correct. i didnt have it dyno'd but the shop that helped me build it has the same setup in another car w/ those numbers. the heads are custom. cast heads ported and polished w/ major internals. everything in the car is brand new. the car has seriously rolled less than a mile since rebuild. about the carb... if you give it too much fuel it runs rich... u already knew that though. the holley 600 is capableof sustaining about 480-500 horse. speed did an episode on carbs where they showed a 350 sbc w/ a 520 demondyno'd and then a 750 double pumper dyno'd. the 750 made almost 25 horse less throughout the entire range.everything for the car was built as a unit. not one upgrade here one upgrade there... the heads were build for the engine the carb was chosen for the engine setup the cam pistons rings etc. the trans was built by a friends shop w/ him knowing the engine setup. he chose the trans. and the rearend 4:10 posi makes it pull. lowered 2" in rear and 1" in front and hotchkiss suspension to help it hook. every horse is put down. about 2200 in suspension alone. i will get the actual numbers for u when i go home. im a fireman and im working a double so i'll be here for 48 hrs. lol.

also theres little tricks here and there... such as cutting a 1/2" groove in the divider in the planes on the intake (one high plane one low plane) you get the low end torque provided by the dual plane, but u also get the mid-high torque provided by the pressure being able to equalize in the upper rpm range.
