Megasquirt?
It is a engine management system for fuel injector cars. Never read up on it to find if it could be used on 3rd gen cars. Check out TGO site for more details on this system.
I see very low level of knowledge by some posters in their replies.

I was told it was actually designed with GM engines in mind, and it was 2 injector banks so it will work with TPI so I dont see why it wouldnt work with TBI, so far it seems no one has this in their cars?
What I like is that if I ever feel like going TPI I just need the new manifold then just reprogram the MS ECU. BTW It has a touch screen LCD display system you can get!

There is a add on if you want the Sequential injection. I think it is still concidered beta. The biggest issue with the mega squirt and being a noob is getting started. Finding a fuel mapping that matchs your car good enough to get you started. Where the mega squirt really comes into its own is on a true custom system. I have helped a couple guys get their mapping right not because I know the system but becuase I know what the engine wants.
If you want to convert your 70 spitfire to fuel injection with parts from a junk yard Mega squirt is tuff to beat. It is a lot of work to build one for a car that has existing computer system. Once you do it don't expect to ever be able to take your car to a mechanic again. You will be on your own.

As for it being cheap that depends on you. Are you going to build the system yourself? Are you ok with populating and testing a circuit board? You will also need the tester to make sure everything is working. Will you make that also? When I looked into it a year or so ago I figured it would be about $600 for me. That was buying most of it assembled. For me I think going the HP tuner and using a 97-up PCM is a better deal. I figured I would buy an extra PCM from the junk yard and keep my original one stock just in case. I was thinking of this for my 68 pickup project which I may do a LT1 conversion.
Once you own HP tuner unlocking additional Vin number is not to bad price wise.
