question
anybody had their TB ported on a 3.1 V6??? if so what kind of gains did you get??? i've found that the throttle body on the 3.1 flows horribly (the intake outflows both the TB and heads) and i was wondering if anyone has done this mod??

Back in the 80s I played with the 2.8's a little. I used to convert them into the "HO" version that was in the X-11 Citation. The heads always seem to be the bottle neck. If I remember right the heads had an odd configuration that increased the air speed at low RPMs. Base on the GM performance manual if you removed it it would kill your below 4K torque. I never tried it but I bet things would have flowed much better over 4K with that cleared out. If the 3.1 follows suit then it will not matter what you do to the intake or TB. Sorry I don't any direct info on the 3.1s.
Have you given any thought to the 3.4 upgrade? Those heads have to be better, again just a guess. I have never done the research but if 3.4 heads would fit your 3.1 then your port and polish job could mean something.

3.4 heads will fit, but they have a larger combustion dome. and with the fact that i'm already sitting at 8.5:1 compression, i don't need to go any lower and when i say P&P the heads, i mean actually start making the intake and exhaust ports larger all the way to the valve ports. (not just match the ports to the gaskets) and as i said before, the intake manifold itself is the best part of the intake.
