ok here we go. i have a 1986 Z28. i have a set of 350 heads for it already but have not put them on the car. as of now the engine is fairly stock all i have done is remove anything that had to do with the emissions system like smog pump ans **** attatched to it. and removed the a/c compressor. i would like to know intake cam and carb combo for my 305 with 350 head setup and any extras i may need like lifters and such. driveability doesnt matter i live 1 mile from the track and the car is only for the track. any ideas and maybe prices would be nice. lookin to go as fast as possible for as cheap as possible for now just around 13.0 in the 1/4 would be nice to stay in my class without havin to add a cage yet. no n2o either only babies suck on bottles.
edelbrock rpm air gap intake-$200, holley DP 650 carb - around $300, and im pretty positive you would be better off using 305 heads, don't they have better cc combustion chambers? which would create more horsepower.
unless you have those heads milled, your gonna loose horsepower. 305 heads have a smaller combustion chamber to match the smaller bore. your compression is gonna drop therefore loss of horsepower. alot of dirt track racers that run in a restricted class use 305 heads on a 350 to increase compression. Sick
can i just take the goodies out of my 350 heads and put them in the 305 heads so i have them and the smaller compression chamber of the 305 i and i was lookin at the edelbrock pro performer intake but if the other that slayer suggested is better and i have like 10 holley carbs here but i believe they are all 750 but will i be able to jet them down enough? and i really need cam lifter and piston specs. and my 13.0 is out the window i wanna run 12.0 now i dont need a cage at my track until 11.49.
If you want low 12's then your gonna need to by some performance heads. and you don't want the performer intake it has an idle to 5500 rpm range not gonna work very well for your application. If you want to save a lil money get the performer rpm intake its at 1500-6500 range. but in my opinion nothing beats the air gap.
thanx alot for the info on the intake im still lookin for cam and lifters too. any help would be great. i just re built my junk quadrajet but i have holley carbs here the jet will run ok but wont stay runnin at idle and if i get it to run at idle it loads up. once i get the cam lifters heads and intake im puttin the holley on. just gotta save money but it doesnt help when you go to concerts and blown $200 in a night
