I have a 83 z28 383 with a flowmaster and it sounds awesome. Flowmasters sound better on camaros then magnaflows and magnaflows sounds better on mustangs then flowmasters. It really depends on what kind of sound you want or performance. Flowmasters are one of the loudest exhaust compared to dynomax, maganaflow, and cherrybombs. Im not to sure about performance, each one has there own way to improve performance so you might want to look into that to see what you want. In my opinion I would go with a flowmaster, with your V8 it'll sound beefy. Cherrybombs are also good.

I had an 80 series Flowmaster on my Camaro and it sounded okay, it wasn't very loud and the tone wasn't the best IMO.

I think I'll be going with an SLP Loudmouth II this time around. The 4th gen version bolts right in with a slight modification to the mid pipe where it meets the cat.

the magnaflow tends to producer a cleaner, smoother sound without the rasp of a chambered muffler. the best thing to do is listen to sound clips on youtube and make your decision. my girlfriend did the same with her 98 3.8 and chose a magnaflow, and it sounds awesome

With my old 91 305 RS, I put on a muffler eliminator T pipe. It sounded great and wasn't loud at all, unless you get on the throttle hard. And while highway cruising, it was relatively quiet. The best part was it cost hundreds less than the expensive "gotta have" systems.

+1. i bought mine for $45 on ebay, and spent $40 to have the old muffler carefully removed and that pipe welded in. moderate stereo volume and i couldnt hear it. if i had the windows down and tops off and hammered it, it sounded awesome. a lot of people would ask me what it was

That's what really gets me about the oooooooh...Borla exhaust. If you run it with no reducers, you have basically an open system with no flow (that amounts to anything considerable) through the muffler. That's a lot of money to spend for a fancy straight pipe.
I'm going to be putting these on my Vette: Muffler Eliminators

Flowmaster is loud and suits best in race cars but people who are after loud ones may not find them too loud. You can try some sound clips on youtube.
