Default Looking for purchase advice

I am looking at '92 Convertible z-28 25th anniversary with 59k miles on it. The asking price is $4000. Camaro's are all over the place on prices and I can't decide if this is a good deal. The top seems decent. The body will definitely need a paint job at some point. The interior looks pretty good. May need new carpet. Surface rust on the trunk lid. The current owner (2nd owner) only drives it in nice weather and it is kept it in a garage. She is a family member and her dad and brother are mechanics who have kept it up for her. I have always liked these cars and my wife seems to be onboard.

My plans for the car:
I will be driving this mostly around town when the weather is nice and I only have 1 passenger with me. I don't imagine I will drive it for trips longer than an hour. Except of course the first trip to get it home which will be close to 9 hours. I am mechanically inclined (aircraft mechanic) but do not have a ton of experience with cars. I'm not looking to have a show car, just a car that is nice to look at and fun to drive. I need to make a decision in the next couple days, so please help me out.

I am not familiar with the 92 anniversary. Is it auto or stick, 305 or a 350? How well do you know rag tops? Age can be hard to determine and a nice looking top that has already shrank still will need replaced. As the tops shrink they will expose the door seal and most likely cause a small leak. I have seen those small leaks cause floors to rust out on cars due to car washes only. If you garage the car and never drive it in the rain who cares about the top but if you start using a car and let it sit outside with a 10+ year old top the top is going to show its age very quickly.

If the car is a 350 auto that truly does not need a top with under 60K and has no rust issues and just needs a comedic paint job, 4k is a decent deal. I would not do 4k on a 305. (maybe close for a 305/5 speed) Top can be anywhere from $1200-1600 depending on the labor rate in your area and the material you define.
