Definetly
That's a given ha ha, I think the Titanic has less rust on it than my alternator!
I am working on that literally tomorrow along with pulling the starter. I am just so damn curious about this knock/click it is eating all my attention. I don't even care about push starting everytime I just want the damn engine to STFU! lol.

can u make a tape of it for us. would be way easier if a guy could hear it. if its a knock thats a expensive noise alot of the time. so its for sure coming from inside the motor?

@ craby
yes, I used a mechanics stethoscope and pinpointed the knock coming from the (looking at the engine from the front of the car) left valve cover. It is pretty much verified other than opening it up. I can make a video for you guys tomorrow sometime around noon PST. probably have it posted on youtube and linked in this thread around 1-ish.

I'm having issue where car won't start after replacing both battery and starter. Shop now thinks it may be my after-market alarm system (which hasn't worked in years!). Apparently, the passcode signal is being lost somewhere! They thought at first it was ignition switch but will remove the alarm system and rewire completely. If that's not it, they'll have to go into the dash area to look at teh passcode module.

u should start your own thread. ull get a better response. check for power at the little wire on the alternator. its the exciter wire and tells the alternator to start working when the key is turned on. should have power to it when the key is on and not when the key is off. if no power to it when the key is on then it a bad wire or bad ignition switch.
