Default just bought an 88

Hey guys i just bought an 88 Camaro with a 305 TBI and 5-speed. I know the 305s aren't the most desired engine and I'm not looking to get raped with disapproval of the 5.0 becuase when I get enough money I probably will swap the motor. But for now I am just wondering what the cheapest, most efficient "bang for the buck" mods are on these 305s. Any advice is appreciated
Thanks, Bill

Hi and welcome to the forum. I would change the exhaust and then concentrate on saving your money for the 350. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm looking to put a 350 in my 85 z28 because the 305 just doesn't do it for me anymore.

for the MOST part, i would only do headers, MAYBE an intake. Depending on what your asking the 350 to do when you get it. Headers would change to the 350 with no problem. Same block, same bolting pattern, same darn thing.

Thanks for the help. I just found out that it has an aftermarket catback, but I'm not sure what kind. My friend has a 90' Vette with longtubes and a Flowmaster 40 series and it sounds amazing. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of that, especially if it bolts right onto the 350.

Like 350RS said, use parts that'll work with a 350. Mainly that will be the exhaust only. IMO, I wouldn't spend any money on parts that aren't interchangeable, it's unfortunate but those 305's are massive turds and you'll just find you've wasted hundreds of dollars modifying it only to switch to a 350.
