i have a v6 in my maro im going to redo a 350 but i was wonderin if i could change out the rear now JUST the gears n add a locker

yes the rear diff. is the same. the problem is not the gears , it's the diff. itself. the entire assembly is weak. although i'm guessing by your sig, that you have a '89 model....and they have a better rear diff. that the earlier cars. the early cars had a 7.50" rear diff. (ring gear size) with 26 spine axles and a 89 has a 7.625" rearend with 28 spline axles...the 7.625 is stronger than a 7.5 , but not dramatically.
