Question HUGE Gaping hole in my wheel well

I have a huge gaping hole in my right rear wheel well and the lock on my hatch is crap. The lock I know I can replace but as far as the rotted wheel well goes, should I weld or replace it? Can I buy just the wheel well or is going to be easier to swap the entire *** end. Just to put the size of the hole into perspective, you could stick your head through it. Any advice is appreciated.

Cool

Well actually, that is the only rott spot. I plan on doing the v8 swap and thought maybe swapping the *** end out with a v8 *** end would fix the rott and save me from having to swap gears.

Maybe your should take a picture, I am getting a little confusses about what you are talking about switching out. The rear wheel well is part of the main car assembly. You can not just unbolt it and replace it. It needs to be repaired by a body man. All the bad metal will need to be cut away. New or used pannel will need fitted in the the cut away area and welded into place.

If you are going to keep the car you have to be picky on how the car is repaired, Up north you can find someone that pop rivet a patch and load it up with under coating and call it fixed. It will pass a saftey inspection with this type of repair but it will allow the rust to continue until the patch itself falls out. This would cause a more expensive repair a year or two later.

if its the wheel well, the only real way to fix it is to cut it out and put in a new peice. how you do it is up to you, whether you weld it or epoxy/rivet it place. just make sure you cut out any damaged area and paint it a with a few coats so it doesnt come back
