Default How to use Stock gauges with vortec motor

I am wondering is it possible to use the stock gauges in my 86 berlinetta oil pressure, temp, and voltometer etc.. I have swapped in a 383 vortec motor and the guy helping me persuaded me to get an aftermarket cluster but I am cleaning up the interior and I would rather use the stock stuff. The wiring is there do I just need new sensors? Will they fit a vortec block?

Thanks for the help,
Blackberlinetta

If you can transfer the sending units from the old engine to the new engine, the old gauges should work OK.

Your stock gauges are electric. The oil gauge uses a pressure switch (sometimes referred to as a sending unit) in the block, and the temperature gauge uses a sending unit in the head. You can put your existing ones onto the vortec engine. The volt gauge is for the charging system and has nothing to do with what type of engine you have.
