How much should it cost to get my crank turned?
Ok, not that way, you bunch of perverts.
Ive oficially spun a bearing. Im trying to decide if Im gonna rebuild, or buy a long or short block. How much should it cost to machine the crank? (rough estimate) I think its been done once before, so is it even salvagable?
This ruined my 3 day weekend. I hope my fishing trip tomorrow goes a little better.

I talked to my boss today......... at a run of the mill shop it will probably be around 50 to 100. At our shop (we build high performance race engines) it's 250.

Well, after much thought Ive decided that Im not gonna rebuild her. After the machine work is done (crank, maybe the bore, -its already 40 over-, the stripped starter hole, freshen the heads) and the rebuild kit, the price will proboably exceed 700-1000 bucks. I have a buddy who has a freshly rebuilt motor for 800 bucks that Im gonna jump on. I just hope this engine is better than the last one I bought from a buddy. (less than 200 miles ago!) Wish me luck. And Mike you get too look forward to another play by play posting of my 2nd engine swap in less than 4 months! Sit back and grab the popcorn!
