How do I remove the shifter plate? I want to paint it. Do i have to remove the shifter.

All you have to do is remove the shifter ****, and then you can remove the plate.

Shift **** has a very small u-shaped clip toward the front, remove. The plate has 8 or 10 torx screws holding it in place. Thats it.
