i picked up a 1982 camaro off of a friend a couple weeks ago and it was running fine. just a last nite i was driving home when it just started making this real loud humming noise. wasnt sure what it was so i pulled over. i shut off the engine and it was still making that sound. only way to make it stop was to unhook the battery. not sure what it is. any suggestions?

 

Sounds like something to do with the Electric Fan, most likely i'm wrong but thats the only thing i know that can keep running after the car is shut off.

Could also be that AIR pum got stuck on, it has a good buzz. I also had an experience where the starter disengaged from the flywheel as it should, but remained spinning, even with the key off. Disconnected the battery and the trouble never came back.
