Default Hood pin installation guide

Anyone that can find me a hood pin latch installation guide for a 87 IROC, or have installed one themselves and have any pointers I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Default RE: Hood pin installation guide

i have them on my car, theres nothing real hard about installing them, as far as where to install them its up to you but your pretty limited on third gens to how far back go for the center of the front support, as to how far in, i dont rember exact but mine are roughly i think 4 inches in to the center of the hole. this is the only real thing you get to control without fabricating some mounted plates.

a few tips

#1 use a nail or nail set to prepunch the whole otherwise the drill bit will travel
#2 predrill it with a smaller drill bit
#3 get a drill guide(store bought or just a peice of metal with the right size hole in it that will allow you to drill the same angle on both sides) unless u have a steady hand and eye
#4 dont buy the $10 cheapes, they rust up real quick, spend the extra and get nice ones, i also clearcoated my plates.
#5 if your elimanting the hood latch like i did make sure itll pass inspection in you area most areas the only requirement is that the hood is held firmly in place but ive heard of guys failing for them too.
$6 dont bother with the locking ones(the ones without pins they just have the key) i cant even begin to tell you the horror storys i have heard about them.

i can give you pics but their not going to be any real help is very straight forward but if you just wanna know how they'll look i can help you there.

Thank you very much, I did get the good set and I got a unibit to drill the whole it starts small and gets bigger the farther you go in. To make sure it doesn't travel i was told to put tape down, that really helps. Thank you for the help.
