Hissing from brake pedal and long pedal travel

Yup I bench bled the master cylinder thanks to educational videos on youtube.
As for the bleeding process I would close the bleeder screw half way through her third attempt at pressing the pedal. And Mtowles I saw that same suggestions after the fact too about the hose going into a bit of brake fluid I was going to rebleed everything and try that method too.
Thanks for the replies everyone!! Looks like I'll redo the bleeding of the system first. Still new to all this mechanic stuff but all you need is a desire to learn right? That's what makes the car your own. Doing it yourself IF you can. I'm having fun so far!!

Now it been a long time since ive done this so I might be miss remembering it but a friend of mine use to take a rubber hose and attach it to the bleader valve and then run it into a bottle of brake fliud. So when you push the brake down it pushes air out and when you let it in it sucks up brake fluid. I remember it only took a few min to blled the brake and there was no air in the lines.
